The prices of Brunello di Montalcino vineyards reach 1 million euros per hectare

The price fixed by the passage of Villa Le Prata, a nineteenth-century estate that was the summer residence of the Bishop of Montalcino

A wine project with history at its heart, which revolves around the nineteenth-century villa that was the summer residence of the Bishop of Montalcino (and initially built in 1860 as a hunting lodge by Count De Vecchi): this is the story of Villa Le Prata, the last estate to be passed in the land of Brunello di Montalcino.
Although, it is an “internal” passage, the estate, now of three hectares of vineyards, 2.5 of Brunello di Montalcino, which was owned in part by the Losappio family, has been entirely purchased by Bernardo Losappio and his wife Anna Vittoria Brookshaw. A deal that, according to WineNews, further revises the prices of the Brunello di Montalcino vineyards, valued, in this case, 1 million euro per hectare. Moreover, explains Bernardo Losappio, to WineNews, “from now on it will have a different mark. The winemaker will still be Gioia Cresti, and we will produce only “single vineyard” wines. Afterward, once the villa has been restored, within a few months, we will focus on high-level hospitality, on event organization, involving great chefs, and on art projects in order to enhance the company as well as the territory. Our concept is to stay a small company, focusing on the highest quality in every aspect and attracting customers and enthusiasts, rather than to invest in large events and fairs, which for a small company is not favorable”.
