Ambassadors of Italian wine in the world: DE.SA awarded Veronika Crecelius (Meininger) and WineNews

The German Sommelier Association, led by Sofia Biancolin, has awarded the “Honorary Sommeliers for Italy in the Heart” at Prowein

Italian wine is well known around the world for its quality, but it is also known because of its many passionate storytellers that narrate wine to professionals and wine lovers. One of these is Veronika Crecelius, famous writer of Italian wine in Germany for the German publisher Meininger, who was named “Honorary Sommelier for Italy in the Heart” at Prowein, by the president of DE.SA, the dynamic Association of German Sommeliers, led by the volcanic Sofia Biancolin. The award was shared with the editorial staff of WineNews that Alessandro Regoli and Irene Chiari founded in 1999, which is “one of the most important web magazines on Italian wine”, said Sofia Biancolin. She delivered the awards, together with Marius Berlemann, head of Prowein, who after having contributed to developing the Dusseldorf Wine Fair, which has now become a reference point for world wine trade, will manage all of Prowein’s projects (not just wine, ed.) throughout the Asian area.
The fair in Dusseldorf brought together many of the most important territories, and the DE.SA. Sommeliers narrated them starting from the most famous names in the world, Sassicaia, Amarone by Romano Dal Forno, Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore, the protagonists of the great verticals at the fair, as well as companies such as Felsina and Fontodi, and more, and then the many small emerging wineries not directly in the spotlight, in a kaleidoscopic tale of the diversity of Italian wine.
“Once again the Italian brand has shown its full character”, said the president Sofia Biancolin, “revealing itself as a powerful catalyst to capture the attention of everyone, in a notoriously competitive event as far as visibility is concerned. This is also thanks to its ability to combine quality, variety, history and charm in a unique and unmatched mix, which is best summarized by the 1.700 Italian wineries out of the total 6.900 companies that participated in ProWein 2019”.
