The glass of the Italians is red, but bubbles and white wines increase too: according to Signorvino

Data of the first semester by Osservatorio Signorvino, of the Italian “wine chain” n. 1. Boom bubbles, top Franciacorta, then Prosecco and Trentodoc

If red wines continue to dominate the Italian glass, the growth trend shows the golden moment of white wines and bubbles, and the increase, also in Italy, of the rose segment. At least according to data from the first half of the Osservatorio Signorvino, which WineNews is able to anticipate, based on sales of the most important “wine chain” in Italy, with 16 stores in the most important cities of Italy, from Milan to Verona, from Turin to Florence, from Bologna to Brescia and beyond, capable of moving one million bottles of wine a year, with a turnover of 31 million euros. This, however, shows an increase in the value trend for all types.
In particular, if red wines are worth 54% of the value of sales, with a value trend of 5%, under the spotlight, explains Signorvino, there are sparkling wines, at +11% in value, which a weight on sales that has reached 24% of the total, “and it will be interesting to appreciate the contribution of this category in September, for reasons of seasonality, and even more in December with the Observatory at the end of the year, a period that includes the holidays”.
In detail, the most sold sparkling wine is Franciacorta (+6%), thanks mainly to the boom in the “zero dosage” type, ahead of Brut, Saten, Rosè and Extrabrut. Second place for the world Prosecco (+4%), which records a significant shift in consumption on quality, given that in the Signorvino wine shops goes for the most is that of Cartizze, absolute top quality of the type, in front of Prosecco Doc and Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Docg. To complete the podium, Trentodoc, the denomination that grows the most (+9%), with the Rosè type at the top, ahead of Brut, Dosaggio Zero and Extrabrut.
Good also white wines, which have an impact of 15.7% on sales, and grow in value by 14%. Even though the numbers are very small (3.8% of the value of sales), rose wines are growing very fast, at +46%, while sweet wines are still marginal (2.5% of sales, +1% of the trend in value).
