World Auction for the Tartufo Bianco d’Alba, 145,800 euros for nuggets and great Piedmontese reds

There are 145,800 euros raised at the Alba World Truffle Auction n. 20, on stage at the castle of Grinzane Cavour, which saw the protagonist under the hammer 5 lots featuring the precious Piedmontese nuggets, paired with the great Piedmontese reds, Barolo and Barbaresco. A glamorous event, which saw the succulent lots beat two characters of Italian television, Enzo Iacchetti and Caterina Balivo, who conducted the offers with irony and skill. Four lots, composed of a truffle of 270 grams, together with a magnum of Barolo Cerretta 2014 Davide Fregonese and a magnum of Barbaresco Montubert 2004, awarded for 6,300 euros; the second lot instead saw the 340 grams nugget, combined with a double magnum Barolo Sorano 2012 San Biagio, and a magnum by Barbaresco Vanotu 2007 Pelissero, sold for 7,500 euros; the third lot instead included a 470-gram truffle, accompanied by a double magnum by Barolo Ciabot Mentin 2010 by Domenico Clerico, a magnum by Barbaresco Boito 2007 by Rizzi, and an Albertengo panettone, awarded by two Michelin star chef Yong Zhang for 12,000 euros. Finally, the highlight of the auction: a 1,005 gram super nugget, accompanied by a double magnum of Barolo Vigna Rionda 2000 Massolino, double magnum Barbaresco Rabajà 1985 Giuseppe Cortese, and a 20 kg Albertengo panettone, beaten in connection with Hong Kong, Singapore and Moscow, for 120,000 euros.
Auction, which saw among the protagonists some of the ambassadors of the famous Piedmontese nugget in the world, starting with the 3-starred Massimiliano Alajmo, of the restaurant Le Calandre in Rubano, the youngest Italian chef to receive the three Michelin Stars, and a great lover and connoisseur of truffles , together with Yong Zhang, at the head of the Xinrongji group, which brings together multiple starred restaurants in Shanghai and Singapore, which brought the Italian truffle culture to Shanghai, both awarded by the Piedmontese authorities for their gastronomic dissemination work.
