Farinetti on Etna: joint venture, Borgogno and Tornatore buy Villa dei Baroni

It was only a matter of time, as Oscar Farinetti's goal to grow as a wine producer in Sicily, after Tuscany (he purchased Il Colombaio di Cencio in the Chianti Classico area through Fontanafredda Group in February), were obvious and stated. He has now officially arrived on Etna, where Borgogno of the Farinetti family, explained a statement from the historic winery in Barolo, has taken root in a joint venture with wine producer Francesco Tornatore, of Cantina Tornatore on the volcano. They have together acquired "Villa dei Baroni", in the district of Carranco a Pietramarina, in Castiglione di Sicilia, on the north side of Etna, considered one of the most prestigious on the entire volcano. They have bought a total of twenty hectares, of vineyards and olive groves with the splendid Villa dei Baroni in the center of the property. “Borgogno has been looking beyond the boundaries of the Barolo area for quite some time and this time we went farther away and decided to invest in Sicily, on Etna”, Farinetti commented. It is a distant territory but linked to the Langhe because of the production of great, strong and structured wines. We are honored to have Francesco as a partner, who is an expert and connoisseur of the territory. He is the right person”.
