The piece of art evokes a draped fabric but is realized in ceramic, reflecting the tradition of the Tuscan pottery. Now it has became the label of a great wine: Les Grandes is the work by Sonia Kacem, Swiss artist winner of the Premio Artisti Per Frescobaldi 2018, promoted by the historic family of Italian wine after a long tradition of cultural patronage that has its roots in the Renaissance with artists such as Brunelleschi and Donatello.
At the edition no. 4, the project conceived by Tiziana Frescobaldi and curated by the art critic Ludovico Pratesi, dedicated to Switzerland (among the reference wine industries this year, including collectors, ed.) has involved the artists Kacem, Claudia Comte and Francesco Arena - the second artist is also Swiss, while the third is an Italian, one for each edition - in the creation of works of art inspired by CastelGiocondo, the estate owned by Frescobaldi in Montalcino which produces Brunello, and three labels for a limited edition of 999 Magnum di CastelGiocondo Brunello Vendemmia Dedicata 2013 (333 per artist), whose sales proceedes are destined to major international institutions.
The artworks - on display at the Gam-Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Milan until November 4, before enriching, with the bottles, the permanent collection of works of art in the cellar and in the vineyards of CastelGiocondo - were evaluated by a jury formed by Hans-Ulrich Obrist, director of the Serpentine Gallery in London, Elena Filipovic, director of the Kunsthalle in Basel and Andrea Viliani, director of the Museo Madre in Naples.
