The wine-focused arm of the project developed by Compagnia del Gusto Holding, the investment platform inspired and promoted by the Cosulich family and led by ceo Ettore Nicoletto and Chairman Sergio Albarelli, continues to grow. Following the recent announcement of the acquisition of Cantine Romagnoli, a historic winery in the Colli Piacentini region (founded in 1857, with 45 hectares of vineyards and a well-established specialization in Metodo Classico sparkling wines), under “Compagnia delle Vigne” division, the Group is now moving forward with the acquisition of Jascots Wine Merchants from Freixenet Copestick. Compagnia delle Vigne division also includes Sansego Holding, a company active in wine production and wine tourism hospitality on the Croatian island of Susak (Sansego) through a joint venture with the Spadotto family, and Arya, a project focused on the development and international commercialization of premium ultra-low-alcohol wines. Meanwhile, industry rumors suggest that the acquisition of the phygital platform Winelivery is also virtually a done deal. Today, however, the spotlight is on the acquisition of Jascots, alongside the signing of a partnership agreement between the two companies aimed at strengthening the distribution of Italian wines in the UK On-Trade channel.
“Through its UK subsidiary, Cdgh UK, Compagnia del Gusto Holding will acquire all of Jascots Wine Merchants commercial assets, as well as the company administrative team and sales force. Founded in 1986, Jascots Wine Merchants is one of the leading independent distributors in the UK On-Trade channel, serving a highly qualified customer base that includes restaurants, hotels, and wine bars. In 2025, the company recorded revenues of 10 million dollars”, explains a note. This marks a significant step forward in one of the most important markets for Italian wine, the United Kingdom, where Jascots Wine Merchants works with Italian brands such as Cecchi, Val delle Rose, Canalicchio di Sopra, Tommaso Bussola, Rocche di Costamagna, Barone di Villagrande, Mastroberardino, Tiefenbrunner, Sartarelli, Castelvecchio, Citra, Mionetto, and not only.
“The transaction will enable Compagnia del Gusto Holding to take control of a prestigious distribution network and gain direct access to one of the most important export markets for Italian food and beverages. In addition to continuing the distribution of Jascots current international portfolio within the On-Trade channel, the Group will leverage the acquired network to bring its own Italian wines and food products to the British market”, explains the same Group.
“The acquisition of Jascots represents a fundamental milestone in our international growth strategy. The United Kingdom is a strategic market for premium Italian wines, and through Jascots we are acquiring a solid distribution platform, a highly experienced team, and deep expertise in the On-Trade channel. We are excited about the opportunity to bring the very best of our Italian portfolio to such a prestigious clientele”, commented Ettore Nicoletto, ceo of Compagnia del Gusto Holding.
Damian Clarke, managing director of Freixenet Copestick and chief sales officer of Henkell Freixenet, added:
“we are proud of the results achieved by Jascots Wine Merchants since acquiring the company in 2020. This partnership with Compagnia del Gusto Holding will ensure business continuity while creating new growth opportunities for the team and our customers. We are confident that Compagnia del Gusto vision and expertise will further strengthen Jascots position within the UK On-Trade market”.
The operation will follow the customary procedures applicable to transactions of this nature, with financial completion expected by October 2026.
