La famiglia Ceretto porta ad Alba Patti Smith

The “Words and Music: Patti Smith with Tony Shanahan” meeting-event will be a unique opportunity to meet the rock poetess, accompanied by Tony Shanahan, the words, stories and music of one of the greatest interpreters of American music and art of all times (Teatro Sociale Giorgio Busca, October 26th), followed by the grand opening of the exhibition, “Lynn Davis & Patti Smith. Conspiracy of Word and Image”, in the company of the artists (Coro della Maddalena, October 27th). This will be the extraordinary prelude of “Conspiracy of word and image” (Coro della Maddalena, October 28-November 25th), the eighth exhibition organized by the Ceretto family, which consolidates their passion for contemporary art and the desire of one of the most famous Italian wine brands to bring the greatest international artists and their works to Alba. The rock poet Patti Smith and the American photographer Lynn Davis have been united since the seventies by a profound friendship, and have always wanted to create something together. The exhibition that will be hosted by the Ceretto family in Alba is the result of these two women’s collaboration in recent months carried out with enthusiasm and resulting in a marriage of writing and photography that came about following Lynn Davis’ exhibition in Philip Johnson's Glass House gallery in Connecticut, where Patti Smith participated as well. Lynn Davis' photographs have intensity not only because of the way she frames an image, but also to the size and perfection of the surface of the print. Choosing five of her photographs and giving them to Patti Smith was an act of trust. Lynn Davis was certain that whatever Patti Smith would have done, having agreed in advance that she would write on the photographs, would be a deep and loving response. Thus, Patti Smith has written her own words and words of other poets on the images, with medieval vigor, as if they were spells and runic inscriptions.
