The decree for the promotion of wine tourism in Italy has arrived: the Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida has announced the signing of the measure which implements at the national level the reform of the wine sector intervention under the Common Agricultural Policy (Cap), the so-called “Wine Package”. Its aim is to support initiatives designed to enhance awareness and strengthen the reputation of vineyards by promoting wine tourism and linking the quality of wines to the excellence of Italy territories. The beneficiaries of this measure are protection consortia, producer organizations, and interprofessional organizations, which may receive support for local promotional activities such as events, meetings, visits, and other initiatives aimed at enhancing and promoting wine-producing areas.
Applications for funding may be submitted by October 30th of each year, according to procedures established by Agea in agreement with the Regions. For the 2026/2027 financial year, the deadline has been set for December 15th, 2026.
The Cap wine sector intervention tools are thus being further strengthened. “With this law decree - affirmed the Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida - we are taking another step forward in strengthening the reputation of Italian wine and supporting the growth of our territories. Promoting wine tourism means enhancing quality production, landscapes, culture, hospitality, and the traditions that characterize Italy from north to south, while creating important development opportunities. We are doing this by reinforcing the fundamental work carried out by consortia, producer organizations, and interprofessional organizations to tell the story of, and raise awareness about, the uniqueness of our wine heritage directly in the places where these excellences arose. This measure, of which we are proud, is the direct result of the work carried out by Italy in Europe with the goal of strengthening the competitiveness of this strategic sector of made in Italy”.
