When wine toasts with music: the label of Roger Taylor, the drummer of Queen, arises

It is called Queen Côtes de Provence Rosé and its production is entrusted to Les Caves du Commandeur, historical reality of Provence

The fact that music stars have a strong bond with the world of wine is no longer news, as WineNews has often reported over the years. This partnership continues to thrive and remains strong even among those who have written chapters in the history of rock music, as demonstrated by Sting, who produces wine at his Tuscan estate, Il Palagio. Now, another “top player” joins the ranks: Roger Taylor, the legendary drummer of Queen, the band headed by the iconic Freddie Mercury, which has written some of the most important pages in the history of rock and pop music. Queen Côtes de Provence Rosé is the new label arisen from the passion of the musician for wine and is now entering the Italian market thanks to the distribution of Vino & Design and Spirits & Colori.
Queen Côtes de Provence Rosé is the result of a project developed by Roger Taylor in collaboration with Sony Music, Watermill Wines, Les Caves du Commandeur, and Rupert Clevely. Taylor was directly involved in defining the blend, shaping the overall vision of the project, and even contributing to aspects of the bottle design. Production is entrusted to Les Caves du Commandeur, a historic Provençal winery founded in 1913 in Montfort-sur-Argens. The cooperative brings together producers who collectively cultivate around 650 hectares of vineyards spread across nine municipalities in the region, an area characterized by clay-limestone soils and climatic conditions favorable to the production of fresh, balanced, and elegant wines.
The bottle stands out for its distinctive pyramid shape, refined proportions, and glass stopper. As a result, the Queen identity becomes part of a broader story in which music meets wine without overshadowing the territory from which it comes. On the one hand, the creative legacy of one of the most important bands in rock historystands out; on the other hand, the Côtes de Provence denomination, one of the most renowned expressions of French winemaking.
“The addition of Queen Côtes de Provence Rosé to our portfolio stems from the desire to offer the Italian market a product that combines strong international recognition with an authentic expression of its territory. It is a wine that has already demonstrated its value in major international competitions and that can find a particularly receptive audience in fine dining, hospitality, and more sophisticated consumption settings”, commented Gabriele Rondani, marketing and sales director of Spirits & Colori.
The arrival of Queen Côtes de Provence Rosé in Italy also reflects the growing market interest in premium rosé wines which go beyond the traditional concept of a seasonal wine to become expressions of lifestyle, sociability, and contemporary culture. The Cuvée Rock ’n’ Roll 2025 is a Côtes de Provence AOP made from 70% Grenache and 30% Cinsault, with an alcohol content of 13%. And it is easy to imagine that it could also become a collector item for the band countless fans.
