Brunello and ribs, choruses for Roma and branded clothes: Damiano and Dove wedding in Montalcino

An irresistible blend of international glamour and spontaneity, Giorgio Armani and Valentino designs alongside childhood friends, trays of pork ribs meant for sharing, lavish settings and spontaneous choruses of “Grazie Roma”, with Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino serving as the common thread throughout three days of celebrations, all set against the backdrop of Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, an ancient hamlet transformed into a five-star resort and one of the most exclusive destinations in Italy and the world. The wedding of Damiano David, former frontman of Måneskin, and American singer and actress Dove Cameron, who exchanged vows in Montalcino in recent days, showcased, alongside the palpable emotions of a young couple in love - the excellence of made in Italy which the world envies: a unique blend of fashion, hospitality, art, landscapes, food and wine, once again in the spotlight of the international media. On Thursday, September 24th, after saying “I do” at the historic Town Hall, Damiano and Dove returned with their guests to Castiglion del Bosco, a 900-year-old estate spanning 2,000 hectares, including 64 hectares of vineyards, and named Europe Best Hotel by the prestigious magazine “Travel + Leisure” in 2026. According to WineNews, the celebrations began with a happy hour in the estate historic winery. There, among the large oak casks, family members and close friends toasted with wines from Montalcino before moving on to dinner at the exclusive Millecento Wine Club, an evocative circular library housing some of the world rarest and most valuable bottles owned by affluent members from across the globe. It was here that Damiano - glass in hand, joined by his father, brother and closest friends - sang Venditti “Grazie Roma” - “Thanks Rome”, a song which has long become an anthem of the city where he was born. The celebrations continued on Friday with a spectacular welcome dinner among the vineyards, illuminated for the occasion by large flaming torches and surrounded by the woods of Montalcino. Not coincidentally, Castiglion del Bosco is the only winery in the area to include the word “bosco” (woods) in its name, a tribute to the thousands of hectares of Mediterranean scrubland which encircle the estate. The lavish setting revolved around a deep red palette that dominated the tablecloths, flowers, plates, menus and candles, complemented by silver candelabras and crystal glassware. The menu embraced an informal spirit, featuring a sharing barbecue with trays of pork ribs and grilled meats served for guests to enjoy together.
The final act, a highly private symbolic ceremony, took place on Saturday afternoon in the estate centuries-old castle, dominated by the evocative ruins of an 11th-century tower. White was the defining theme of the ceremony and remained the guiding palette for the spectacular gala dinner, where long imperial-style tables were topped with flowing white fabric drapes and lavishly decorated with candles in crystal cylinders and white flowers. In the glasses, guests found not only wines from Montalcino but also labels from around the world, reflecting the identity of a destination deeply rooted in its territory yet unmistakably international in outlook. The property features 42 suites, 11 villas, a cooking school, a winery producing Brunello di Montalcino, Italy only private 18-hole golf club, and Campo del Drago, the two-Michelin-starred restaurant led by chef Matteo Temperini, complete with a beautiful organic vegetable garden.
From the first images leaked from the wedding - organized by renowned wedding planner Alessandra Grillo, known for overseeing the weddings of numerous celebrities including Chiara Ferragni and Fedez, as well as Dua Lipa and Callum Turner - fans identified the members of Måneskin (Thomas Raggi, Victoria De Angelis and Ethan Torchio), in what appeared to be a rehearsal for the band long-awaited reunion ahead of the official one expected at Sanremo 2027.
Owned since 2022 by an international family office, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco is entirely surrounded by a solitary, wild and centuries-old natural landscape dominated by woodland and Mediterranean scrub, from which it takes its name and which represents the true wealth of the area.
