The “Festa del Barolo” (Barolo Festival) in New York, organized by Antonio Galloni (“Vinous”) is one of the most exclusive and prestigious events dedicated to American lovers of Nebbiolo at its finest, the entry into the main lineup, which, alongside the great classics, will enliven the 2027 edition of the event, scheduled for January 27-30, is a sort of “debutante ball”. This will be the case, among others, for Prunotto, a historic Langhe winery and one of the first to focus on “single-vineyard” wines, owned by Marchesi Antinori since 1994, which will be making its debut appearance (pictured is the Vigna Colonnello vineyard, one of the estate’s most prestigious, from which a 5-liter bottle of 2012 Barolo Bussia Vigna Colonnello will be among the highlights of the 2026 “Barolo en Primeur” charity auction on October 23 in Grinzane Cavour, ed.), as well as two other “artisan” wineries from the region, Elio Sandri and Giovanni Manzone. They will share the spotlight with renowned and prestigious names such as Brovia, G.B. Burlotto, Giacomo Conterno, Poderi Einaudi, Elio Grasso, Massolino, E.Pira - Chiara Boschis, Francesco Rinaldi, Roagna, Sandrone, Trediberri, and Vietti.
First held in 2011, as explained by “Vinous”, “Festa del Barolo” is an event that “brings together the finest Barolo producers, passionate wine lovers from around the world, and dozens of renowned sommeliers for an unforgettable week of events celebrating one of the world’s greatest wines”. “Keeping the “Festa” intimate while rotating the participating producers from year to year has always been a priority: we are thrilled”, explains Antonio Galloni, “to welcome three estates that will make their debut at the “Festa del Barolo” in 2027. Prunotto is one of Piedmont’s most historic estates and one of the first to bottle single-vineyard wines in the early 1960s. Elio Sandri embodies the essence of the artisanal tradition of Perno, an emerging region in Monforte d’Alba. Giovanni Manzone, also in Monforte, boasts a splendid tradition as a farming estate dating back many decades”.
On the schedule for Wednesday, January 27, is a spotlight on Cannubi, Barolo’s most famous vineyard, featuring wineries such as G.B. Burlotto, E.Pira - Chiara Boschis, Francesco Rinaldi, and Luciano Sandrone. On Thursday, January 28, a charity dinner will take center stage, featuring two of Roagna’s most prized wines: the Barbaresco Crichët Pajé Black Label Riserva and the Barolo Vigna Rionda Black Label Riserva, presented by Luca Roagna himself. On Friday, January 29, lunch will feature the wines of Elio Sandri, with vintages spanning three decades to showcase the wines from the vineyards of the Perno estate (Monforte d’Alba). Meanwhile, dinner will feature a gala dinner with the “Big Bottle - Bring Your Own Bottle” party, as well as another charity auction starring the 15 producers of the 2027 “Festa del Barolo”, each of whom will uncork and pour rare wines and large-format bottles from their own estates at their respective tables. The program will conclude on Saturday, January 30, with the “Vinous” masterclass on the 2022 Barolo harvest, once again presented by the 15 producers, followed by a pairing that couldn’t be more American and Piedmontese at the same time: the “Barolo & Burgers Lunch”. It promises to be a grand celebration of Barolo, featuring some of its greatest contemporary producers.
