Richard Parsons, the charismatic leader of the American music and film giant AOL Time Warner, will leave his role as leader at the end of the year. And he already knows how he will be filling his time afterwards. Parsons will, in fact, be dedicating more time to his beloved vineyards at his estate “Il Palazzone” located in Montalcino, where he produces Brunello, Rosso di Montalcino and Super Tuscans that are much appreciated all over the world, even by the likes of such music stars as Quincy Jones and Bono Vox, supermodel Naomi Campbell, and vice president Dick Cheney.
Parson’s new found passion began as a hobby with the acquisition of the estate in 2000 but it soon transformed into a true business venture with a company that now produces about 20,000 bottles per year.
And why did he choose Montalcino?
”In the first place, because I love Italy” – explained Parsons in an exclusive interview with www.winenews.tv – “the people, the food, and, naturally, the wine. Tuscany is one of the most beautiful spots in the world: ask anyone where they would like to live and 90% of them will answer Tuscany. When I arrived here I began looking for an estate to buy in Lucca, then I moved to Florence and the Chianti, arriving finally in Montalcino. And, here, I finally found what I was looking for”.
