Italy leads the “Summer Tasting” 2026 by Mundus Vini: it is the most awarded producing country

Sforzato di Valtellina DOCG Sfursat Carlo Negri 2022 by Nino Negri, jewel of the Gruppo Italiano Vini - Giv, Mitterberg Weiss Passito Sissi 2021 by Kellerei Meran, among the top names in South Tyrol, the Chianti Riserva Sant’Apollinare DOCG Vino del Babbo 2021 by Fattoria La Vialla, Barolo Riserva DOCG Pezole 2016 by Azienda Agricola Roberto Sarotto and Colline Novaresi DOC Nebbiolo 2022 by La Piemontina. They are the 5 Italian wines awarded the medal “Grande Oro” in the “Summer Tasting” 2026 by Mundus Vini, one of the largest and most authoritative wine competitions in the world, signed by the German group “Meininger”. Where Italy, in general, was the wine-producing country to have obtained the most awards: 466 labels were awarded (here is the complete list), including, precisely, 5 Grand Golds, 287 gold medals and 174 silver, with Veneto (97), Tuscany (69) and Puglia (60) proving to be the most awarded regions. Spain follows with 282 awards and Germany comes in third with 204 wines awarded. Then Portugal with 163 medals and France with 100. They were awarded by an international jury of experts who evaluated a total of 2,974 products, including 2,830 “traditional” wines and 144 non-alcoholic wines. In total, 1,698 wines received recognition, with 15 Grand Gold medals, 1,040 gold medals, and 643 silver medals.
Italy dominated summer tasting not only in quantitative but also qualitative terms, with, for example, the title of “Best Producer Italy” awarded to Iwb-Italian Wine Brands, while Fattoria La Vialla obtained the recognition of “Best Organic Producer”.
But many Italian producers have been awarded gold medals, such as Mezzacorona, Cantine Ermes, Mack & Schuhle, San Salvatore 1988, Gerardo Cesari and Cantine Leonardo Da Vinci (Caviro Group), Cecchi, Fortemasso (Agricole Gussalli Beretta), Bisol, Settesoli, Bottega, Cavit, Andreola, Bortolomiol, Cantina Valpolicella Negrar, Tommasi, Leone De Castris, Tollo, Banfi, Cantine Lvnae, Ruggeri, Pellegrino 1880, Villa Sandi, Conte Vistarino, Collis Heritage, Rocca delle Macìe, Ceci, Vineyards of Morellino di Scansano, and more.
