Italy will be the star of the US magazine Wine Spectator’s "Grand Tour 2017", the high-level tasting tour of the best wines in the world - those that boast scores higher than 90/100, - in some of the most important cities in the US. The first stop is Las Vegas on May 6th, then to Chicago on May 9th and it closes on May 12th in Miami.
There are 62 Italian wines out of the 244 selected for tasting, confirming the positive trend of exports to the United States, which in 2016 reached 1.7 billion euros, 6.5% more compared to 2015. The wines on tour represent the entire panorama of Italian wine, wineries from each region with wines that highlight the great Italian native grapes, a real strength among foreign wine lovers as well, starting from the consumers on the other side of the Ocean. But first there is another appointment on the agenda for Italian wine producers, "Opera Wine".
This is the tasting that, for quite a few years now has been the preview for Vinitaly (2017 edition to be held on April 8th in Verona, www.operawine.it), staging the top of the many diverse Italian wines, according to the editor of the magazine, Thomas Matthews.
