“Open Cellars” is back again this year. More than 900 wineries of the Wine Tourism Movement will open their doors to the public of wine lovers on May 30th (in some regions also May 29th).
This year, the 18th edition will pay special attention to the environment and has chosen the slogan “Naturally. Open Cellars”. Chiara Lungarotti, Chairman of the Wine Tourism Movement, explained, ”in a few simple words, the slogan refers to the naturalness of a day outdoors, the naturalness of a gesture like drinking a glass of wine, respect for nature that all our members have always had and the genuine products of our territory. Not forgetting, of course, the invitation to all wine enthusiasts, particularly the younger ones, to drink responsibly”.
The patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture seals the environmental commitment of “Open Cellars” in partnership with Enel.si (a subsidiary of Enel Green Power) aimed to promote and spread the culture and use of energy from renewable sources.
The initiative “Who’s a cap?” in collaboration with the Rilegno Consortium, which promotes collecting and recycling corks, is also back this year. Hertz is promoting the third initiative, which will grant a 10% discount to wine enthusiasts who decide to visit the cellars driving a Hertz Green Collection rental car. Among the new 2010 initiatives, there is “PerBacco”, in collaboration with the Italian Wine Bar, to promote the culture of wine among young people.
