CMO WINE: 48 MILLION EURO TO PROMOTE WINE IN THIRD COUNTRIES IN 2011. MINISTER GALAN SAYS IT’S A “KEY TOOL”. THE ANNOUNCEMENT IS DOWNLOADABLE ON THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND WINENEWS WEB SITES

“Funds for the third annual “Promotion in Third Countries”, provided by the Common Market Organization (CMO) for wine, are a key tool to consolidate and increase Italian wines on the world market by supporting companies in the wine sector facing the enormous challenges of globalization,” commented the Minister of Agricultural Policies, Giancarlo Galan regarding the 48.5 million euros budgeted for the fiscal year of 2011 from the decrees which have implemented the third annual wine promotion on third country markets.
Regions and Autonomous Provinces are posting their announcements. The deadline for submitting applications was extended to September 15, 2010.
The total budget for the fiscal year 2011 can be supplemented with no more than 20% of public funds. The funds will increase with each campaign and the amount will stabilize at more than 82 million euros by 2012. For future years, stated the Ministry, the CMO management committee has reached an important result for the wine sector. The amendment to Regulation 555/2008 was approved, which allows for extending the two-year term beyond the three years originally permitted. The national announcement can be downloaded from the website of the Ministry, www.politicheagricole.it.
