THE ITALIAN WINE GROUP (300 MILLION EUROS AND 1,250 HECTARES OF VINEYARDS) IS LOOKING TO ACQUIRE LAMBRUSCO AND CAVICCHIOLI IN MODENA (25 MILLION EUROS TURNOVER)

The Italian Wine Group (GIV), after finalizing the marketing agreement of the sparkling wine Carpené Malvolti, is now looking at Lambrusco and Cavicchioli in Modena.
The leading Italian wine group has a turnover of over 300 million euros and 1.250 hectares of vineyards in assets. In January 2011 they will acquire the San Prospero winery (Modena) and its trademark, which since 1928 has been the most prestigious name for Lambrusco wine. Cavicchioli boasts sales of over 25 million euros (20% abroad) and covers 20% of the market for Lambrusco wine.

“The Cavicchioli family,” said Sandro Cavicchioli, head of the company, “will continue its activities in the classical method sparkling wines and Lambrusco with the companies Bellei in Sorbara and Castelfaglia in Franciacorta, as well as the management of its vineyards where grapes will continue to be used to produce Cavicchioli brand wines. In addition, “Sandro and Claudio Cavicchioli,” adds the chairman of Italian Wine Group (GIV), Corrado Casoli, “will continue to work for the company, respectively in the technical and commercial sectors, bringing their passion and expertise to the group”.
