At recent auctions the constant interest in the wine industry has allowed diversification and expansion of the buyers and opening especially to the Asian markets where some lots have been purchased at even 100% over the base bid. Among the most interesting lots, Solaia: one bottle of 1990, two bottles of 1987 and 1982, estimated at 350 euros, or the lot of 6 bottles of the prestigious 1997 vintage, rated 850 euros. There are several lots of Ornellaia in various vintages, in standard magnum and double magnum format. The Ornellaia Estate also has two lots of Masseto magnum 1994, estimated at 475 euros each. Historic Sassicaia has many interesting selections of vintages, even very old, from 1968 to 2002, and one lot of 5 bottles vintage 1985 estimated at 2.300 Euros.
There is a remarkable representation of Piedmont wines, with bottles of older vintages such as the magnum 1955 Barolo Conterno, estimated at 1.000 euros. There are also lots of Conterno in magnum and double magnum format from 1996 to 2005. Another Piedmont Company, Giacosa, has both Barolo and Barbaresco, in magnum and double magnum format from 2000 to 2004. There is a very interesting selection of Barolo vintages: 5 bottles of Barolo Bartolo Mascarello, 1978, 1971, 1967, 1964 and 1961 estimated at 1.100 euros.
In the French section, as always, the stars are the Bordeaux wines Château Margaux, Latour, Lafite Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild, Lynch Bages, Petrus, Haut-Brion and Cheval Blanc. The “top lots” are two pristine cases of 12 bottles of 1986 Lafite Rothschild, estimated at 14.000 euros each, and two pristine cases of 12 bottles of 1986 Mouton Rothschild, estimated at 10.000 euros each. There is a selection of three bottles of 1995 Lafite Rothschild Chânsotonsateau, Cheval Blanc and Mouton Rothschild estimated at 800 euros, and also a lot of two bottles of 1990 and 2000 Margaux, estimated at 1.100 euros. Finally, two lots of 12 bottles each in pristine cases of Lynch Bages, estimated at 2.000 euros each.
Burgundy is also represented by the most important Domaines, such as Romanée Conti, Leroy, Dugat-Py and Leflaive. Among the various lots of great value there is a bottle of 2007 Musigny Grand Cru Roumier estimated at 1.100 euros.
