2008 TAURASI, “A GREAT WINE, DEEP, FULL-BODIED, STILL TO BE REVEALED” IS WHAT WINE LOVERS WILL TASTE IN THE GLASS, SAYS PIERO MASTROBERARDINO, ONE OF THE TERRROIR BRAND LEADERS. AND THE “EXPERTS” JUST BACK FROM THE “PREVIEW”, SAY…

“A great wine, deep, full-bodied and a soft vein. It still needs a bit more time to reveal itself fully, but it comes from a vintage of great charm”. This is what Piero Mastroberardino, at the helm of one of the Campania region and Italy’s most important wineries, says fans will taste in their glasses filled with the new 2008 vintage Taurasi. Once again, it seems to mock the passing of time, confirming it is one of the historical Italian wines, leaving behind the rustic character of the past and pushing forward towards wines without even the tiniest imperfection. The 2008 vintage is homogeneous, despite the complexity of the terroir, which is characterized by substantial differences from one zone to another, except for the most southern end where the wines are characterized by a greater acidic freshness.
At the “Anteprima” (preview) show held January 20-22nd at Castello della Leonessa in Montemiletto (Avellino), among the best Taurasi 2008 the “experts” awarded besides Mastroberardino, also Feudi di San Gregorio, Villa Raiano, Benito Ferrara, Cavalier Pepe and Donnachiara; for the 2007 Reserve, Boccella, Feudi di San Gregorio and Villa Matilde and for the 2006 Reserve, Salvatore Molettieri, Il Cancelliere and Cavalier Pepe.
