WILL ANTONIO GALLONI TAKE ROBERT PARKER’S PLACE? THE AMERICAN SUPER CRITIC AND FOUNDER OF “THE WINE ADVOCATE” INDICATED HIS SUCCESSOR THE ITALO-AMERICAN, WHO IS THE ITALY AND CHAMPAGNE EDITOR FOR THE MAGAZINE.

Audio by winenews.tv:

The diversity of territories, grapevines, simplicity in pairing wine with food and the historic charm of certain areas: these are the “4 aces” of Italian wine for Mr. “The Wine Advocate” in Europe, Antonio Galloni

The Italo-American Antonio Galloni, 41, could replace the super-critic Robert Parker at the helm of “The Wine Advocate”. Parker, at 65, has decided to designate a successor. We first mentioned this rumor (interviews with Parker, which we invite you to read, in which we talked about the strengths and weaknesses of Italian wine, but also the role of criticism), and now it has been re-launched by the newspaper “Corriere della Sera”.
The turning point, though Galloni does not say so openly, will be momentous, especially for Italian wine. A former bank manager, he began his adventure with a newsletter dedicated to Piedmont wines and is the editor of Italy and Champagne in Parker’s magazine. He is a lover of territories and native grapes and has identified two emerging Italian wines: “Nerello Mascalese and Aglianico di Taurasi”.
