"IT’S AN INSULT TO THOSE WHO MAKE REAL WINE AND I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF IT WERE ALSO AN AN ATTEMPT ON CONSUMERS’ HEALTH". THE AGRICULTURE CHAIRMAN OF THE VENETO REGION MANZATO, IS AGAINST THE DO IT YOURSELF WINE KITS WITH DOC NAMES SOLD IN THE UK

Copying a “best selling product” is not new, but substituting it and depriving it of its essence just to be more competitive on the market, although it is not illegal, is certainly a crime on an ethical level. The bone of contention is “DIY Wine” created in the United Kingdom, a kit sold in the UK to obtain a drink called “wine”.

Strong criticism has come from the wine world, like the Agriculture Chairman for the Veneto Region, Franco Manzato: "Putting kits on the market with which to obtain drinks that someone has the audacity to call wines is an insult to those who produce real wine. It would not surprise me if this were also an attack on consumers’ health. It is necessary to ask the British authorities and community to intervene immediately and severely in every way possible to suppress trade in false foodstuffs, which are made from powders and chemicals”.
