Halfway between an auction and a big en primeur sale, the "Premiere Napa Valley Wines Auction" set another record. 200 lots of Californian wine vintage 2013, still in the barrel and that will not be bottled just yet, numbered and delivered to the new owners, totaled 5.9 million dollars, almost double the previous record, which dates back to 2012, when the auction reached 3.1 million dollars.
Livening up the show were wine merchants and private collectors, who had set their sights on both the classic brands of the region as well as the rising stars, from Chateau Boswell Winery in Fairchild, Gandona Estate in Silver Oak Cellars, Shafer Vineyards and Rombauer Vineyards. The highest paid lot was 60 bottles of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 by Brand, the company at 1588 meters altitude, on Pritchard Hill, sold at 115.000 dollars. Results like these are bringing more and more attention to the Napa Valley wine world making it the top region, not just for quantity, but also for quality.
