"THERE ARE A FEW DETAILS TO WORK OUT, BUT THE DECISION HAS BEEN MADE". ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT VERDICCHIO WINE COMPANIES, FAZI BATTAGLIA, IS JOINING BERTANI DOMAINS, OF THE ANGELINI WINE GROUP, THE CEO EMILIO PEDRON CONFIRMED TO WINENEWS

There’s seems to be no stopping the buying and selling in the Italian wine world this year. Following the cases in Barolo and Brunello di Montalcino, now the historic brand of Verdicchio, Fazi Battaglia, is about to join the galaxy of Bertani Domains, the Angelini family wine group, which already includes prestigious companies in the most important territories in Italy, like Cav. U.K. Bertani in Grezzana (Verona), Tenuta Novare in Negrar (Verona), Puiatti Vineyards in Romans d'Isonzo (Gorizia), Val di Suga in Montalcino, Tre Rose in Montepulciano, San Leonino in Castellina in Chianti (Siena) and Collepaglia in Jesi (Ancona).
Emilio Pedron, CEO of Bertani Domains and one of the most knowledgeable and experienced managers on Italian wine confirmed it to WineNews: “there are still many details to work out and the deal is not formally closed, but the we have made our decision because Fazi Battaglia is one of the territory’s and Italy’s historic brands on which we are betting heavily, and we want to help it grow more in concept and in synergy with other important companies in the territory”.

It’s a very important transaction, considering the history of Fazi Battaglia winery that gave the world the phenomenal "Verdicchio" wine, but also because of the numbers. Fazi Battaglia has 150 acres of the most beautiful classical vineyards in the Castelli of Jesi area, mainly cultivated with Verdicchio (the value of which, according to market estimates, ranges between 50.000 and 80.000 euros per hectare, ed.).
And, it is a sort of a "return to the family", since Fazi Battaglia was "created" in the fifties by Francesco Angelini, entrepreneur at the head of the pharmaceutical group of the same name that also controls "Bertani Domains", and starting in the nineties it has been under the leadership of the Sparaco Giannotti family, relatives of the Angelinis.

By adding another prestigious brand Bertani Domains will reach a total of 2.000 hectares of vineyards in some of the most prestigious areas in Italy, confirming it is one of the most important wine groups in Italy (www.bertanidomains.it).
