TENOR, VIGNERON AND NOW, RESTAURANT OWNER, ANDREA BOCELLI HAS OPENED "OFFICINE BOCELLI"IN HIS HOMETOWN LAJATICO IN TUSCANY. IT IS A MULTIFUNCTIONAL SPACE LINKING ART TO FOOD WHERE YOU CAN TASTE LOCAL FOOD, THE FAMILY WINES AND LISTEN TO OPERAS

A tenor, a vigneron and now a restaurant owner. The link between Maestro Andrea Bocelli and his hometown is at the heart of a new project in Lajatico, Tuscany, titled, "Officine Bocelli", which is a multifunctional space that links food to art.
Bocelli built the "Theater of Silence" (an amphitheater that is part of the natural contour of a hill and was created to host one show a year, hence the name), and now the tenor-vintner has returned to the town where he was born and where his family has been producing wine for three generations. Today, together with his brother Alberto, he has inaugurated a space that includes a café, a steak restaurant, a wine bar with casual & local gourmet food, and a museum, the "Casa Bocelli Museum" exhibiting images, awards and curios that narrate the man and the artist, Andrea Bocelli.

The name of the project "Officine Bocelli" is a tribute to those same areas that in the last century had housed Andrea and Alberto’s grandfather Alcide’s mercantile company of agricultural machines. It is a return to his roots, “I have traveled all over the world, I have met people, I have had all kinds of experiences, but the more I go away, the more I feel the need to return, where life seems easier and more beautiful under the Tuscan sky. Here, where I was born and raised surrounded by nature, with the sounds and smells of the countryside”, Bocelli told the Italian daily, "Il Tirreno".
“This is the place closest to my heart, where my parents have worked side by side all their lives. It was the right thing to do to let it relive, and make it once again the interpreter of the territory”.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony of the documentary space dedicated to the Bocelli family and Andrea’s career, and the wine and food space (where one can taste the best agro food products of the territory, as well as wines produced on the family farm), are only the beginning of a much larger project. There are plans in the future for an additional auditorium with a circa 500 seat capacity, an art gallery and a training school (for singing and the performing arts). Another project that will link Lajatico and Alta Valdera more and more to great music, and to the tenor who was born on these hills.
