BIBBONA IS BECOMING A BIGGER AND BIGGER WINE AREA, ON THE BORDER WITH PRESTIGIOUS BOLGHERI DOC. AFTER LODOVICO ANTINORI (BISERNO), GAJA AND SAPAIO, NOW PHILIPP HILDEBRAND VICE PRESIDENT OF BLACK ROCK INVESTMENT FUND IS INVESTING IN VINEYARDS

Bordering the famous and increasingly appealing Bolgheri Doc, though it has a different agricultural and territorial identity, Bibbona is becoming an increasingly important wine region, capable of not only producing great wines but also attracting the most important investors. Lodovico Antinori (one of the noble fathers of Bolgheri) sparked the trend with his Biserno Estate, and then names such as Angelo Gaja (who owns the estate owns Cà Marcanda in Bolgheri) invested in Bibbona as well as the Venetian entrepreneur Massimo Piccin (who owns Podere Sapaio in Bolgheri) And now in Bibbona another very important name in the financial world, according to rumors from WineNews, Philipp Hildebrand, Swiss banker and vice chairman of Black Rock investment fund, one of the most important worldwide (managing assets worth 5.100 billion US dollars ) is investing.
He is also former chairman of the Swiss National Bank's management board, he personally bought 20 hectares of land of which 6 are under vineyard planting in Bibbona, not far from Lodovico Antinori’s Biserno Estate.
He plans to build a new farm in the territory, including the winery (the winemaker will be, according to rumors, one of the top winemakers in Italy and the world, Riccardo Cotarella).
