The winner of the Vinexpo Challenge, the blind tasting held at Vinexpo in Bordeaux is Stéphane Saillet, a French producer of Domaine de Marroniers, in Chablis. Over 100 palates from all over the world participated in the tasting contest led by Jon Arvid Rosengren, the World's Best Sommelier 2016, who selected the 10 wines the tasters had to compare among classics and more specialized wines.
The contestants had to determine country of origin, grape variety and vintage.
One of the red wines was Italian, Barbaresco Il Bricco 2010 of Pio Cesare brand, among wines from Austria, Australia, Portugal and the USA and the whites from Spain, Germany, France and Greece.
The challenge was quite difficult and in fact the winner scored only 49 points out of 100. He was awarded a Jeroboam of Bollinger Spécial Cuvée.
