Italy is like Burgundy, and Sassicaia 2015 is better than Romanée-Conti 2010. The scenario presented during the last week of negotiations on the fine wines market has never been as positive for Italy. The Liv-ex data has demonstrated that in the period mentioned, Italy’s wines have moved 14.7% of the market, which is, by the way, precisely the same share as Burgundy. In addition, Sassicaia, thanks to Wine Spectator that has placed it at the top of its Top 100 for 2018, has been confirmed the most purchased wine on the secondary market both for volumes and values, and touching 1.740 pounds sterling per case; that is, 54% more than its release price. At position number 4, instead, Solaia 2015, which James Suckling brought to world prominence and put in first place among Italian wines, calling it “the biggest Solaia of all time”, and so it reached a quotation of 2.358 pounds per case. As previously mentioned, all Italian wines have climbed up in position on the Italy 100, the index dedicated to the last 10 years on the market of the 10 most sought after wines (Masseto, Ornellaia, Sassicaia, Solaia, Tignanello, Gaja Barnaresco, Giacomo Conterno Barolo Riserva Monfortino, Giacomo Conterno Barolo Cascina Francia, Antinori Guado al Tasso and Tua Rita Redigraffi) that in the last 5 years have grown 27.87%.
