ORNELLAIA AND MICHELIN STAR

Ornellaia, the Bolgheri brand winery now has a Michelin star for its Zurich restaurant

The Frescobaldi family brand has bet on the Tuscan formula for its first restaurant, which is already in the gotha of high level catering

Ornellaia, one of the most famous and loved brands in the world, the symbolic winery of Bolgheri and Italian wine excellence, decided to climb even higher, and not stop at the highest level in the wine world, boasting a myriad of awards and prizes. The Frescobaldi family’s winery decided to try, and succeeded with flying colors, to conquer the world of high-level restaurants. And, their first restaurant, “Ristorante Ornellaia” in Zurich, near Bahnhofstrasse, one of the most luxurious and exclusive streets in the entire world, has already received its first Michelin star, the most prestigious award in the restaurant world, just 10 months after the restaurant opened. Starting from the year of its first harvest, in 1985, Ornellaia has become the symbol of Bolgheri and Tuscan wine. The Estate, therefore, favored bringing a corner of the Bolgheri region to Switzerland, with the help of the architect Tilla Theus, who created a “taste” of Ornellaia and the inimitable Tuscan atmosphere: its landscape of people, food and wine. It was a monumental project, for which they chose an Italian chef of the same grandeur, Giuseppe D'Errico. D’Errico, who had studied with the chef of chefs, the Master Gualtiero Marchesi in Alma and afterwards had many, many experiences alongside some of the greatest chefs in the world, has now landed in this corner of Italy, in Switzerland.
“These ten months have been very intense”, said Giuseppe D’Errico, Chef of the Ristorante Ornellaia, “we have worked with the full support of the owners, I have personally contributed my “Italianness” and all my experiences from Alma and France, and my team has done the rest, dedicating all of its passion to the work we love”.
