Although most of the Italian wine territories still have to wait, in Franciacorta the first bunches are already falling. In fact, in the heart of one of the most important areas of Italian wine, a symbol of excellence and quality, the 2019 grape harvest begins, “starting from the vineyards on the southern slope of Monte Orfano, where the harvest of Chardonnay, Pinot Nero, and Pinot Bianco is always ahead of the most central areas, thanks to the particular microclimate ”, as communicated by the Consortium led by Silvano Brescianini. The premises, in terms of quantity and quality, are positive, despite the difficult climatic conditions, with a late-blooming, followed by a June and a July with zero rainfall and hot record. “The year 2019 did not have a linear trend - explains Francesco Franzini, vice-president of the Consortium Franciacorta with technical delegation - and simple management in the countryside: this set of conditions even contrasting, with late harvesting, is often the bearer of particularly interesting wines and therefore I assume you can expect a very positive harvest, especially from the point of view of quality”.
