Vineyards, the Consortia of Tuscany are expected to test the three-year plans required by the Region

Expected by the end of the year, so far those of Bolgheri and Morellino di Scansano have been approved. The measure aims to maintain market balance

Tuscany, one of the most important Italian wine regions in terms of prestige and values (with an “ex fabrica” value that, between PDO and PGI wines, is close to 1 billion euros, according to Ismea) looks to the future of its vineyard. The Region, WineNews heard, is working on the three-year plans that the various Protection Consortiums have been called upon to present by the end of the year. So far, the Bolgheri and Morellino di Scansano appellations have been approved, while news is expected about other fundamental appellations for the enological granducato, from Brunello di Montalcino to Chianti Classico, from Nobile di Montepulciano to Chianti. The three-year plans are a tool that aims to maintain the balance on the markets and the sustainability of a strategic supply chain at an economic, landscape and promotional level, and that involves the 60,000 hectares of regional vineyards, 92% of which are destined for the production of wine with a Denomination of Origin.
