While the prestigious “50 Best Restaurants” list will be unveiled in Lima, Peru, on November 4, and the “50 Best Vineyards” list in Santiago, Chile, on November 16, the first ranking from the group to be released in its entirety will be “The World’s 50 Best Hotels” 2026. On September 15 in Paris, the top 50 will be revealed, but today the rankings from 51 to 100 were unveiled. While Asia dominates this portion of the list with 20 properties, Europe has 16 (including No. 51, Réserve Paris), and Italy leads the continent with a total of 9 hotels.
In fact, at No. 58 is the San Pietro in Positano, on the Amalfi Coast (which is also home to the Michelin-starred restaurant Zass), followed at No. 60 by the Splendido, part of the Belmond group, in Portofino, Liguria, and at No. 62 by the wonderful Castiglion del Bosco in Montalcino, part of the Rosewood Hotels group (previously named the best hotel in Europe by “Travel + Leisure” magazine; a sprawling property with 42 suites and 11 private villas, featuring Italy’s only private golf club, as well as the historic Castiglion del Bosco winery with its Brunello di Montalcino vineyards, and boasting the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Campo del Drago). Ranked No. 66, meanwhile, is the Orient Express La Minerva, in the heart of Rome, followed at No. 68 by the Forestis Dolomites in Bressanone. At No. 84, we return to the Amalfi Coast, to Amalfi, with Borgo Santandrea, which includes the Michelin-starred restaurant Alici, while at No. 88 is the splendid Borgo Egnazia in Savelletri, Puglia, featuring the Michelin-starred restaurant Due Camini. But the Amalfi Coast remains in the spotlight, with Villa Treville in Positano at No. 91, while at No. 95 is Reschio in Lisciano Niccone, Umbria. These are exemplars of Italian hospitality, where haute cuisine (and wine) play a leading role.
