A tribute to the five hundredth anniversary of the death of the greatest Italian genius, Leonardo da Vinci, with an ideal toast signed by 950 of the most important producers in Italy, a focus on innovation with H-Farm, a round table on the Japan model in the “pink” world of wine where entrepreneurs, export managers, journalists, wine bloggers, winemakers, and wine professionals will discuss to analyze the Asian example of this increasingly feminine sector, more and more spaces and events “Fuorisalone”, the mixology protagonist in the cocktail bars of Merano: these are the ingredients of the Merano Wine Festival n. 28, one of the most popular events in the world of wine, the “oenological lounge” created by Helmuth Köcher, WineHunter, and patron, presented in the Preview of Rome, on stage in recent days.
With Köcher, however, looking ahead and thinking of a foundation linked to the activity of WineHunter. “The intention is to make WineHunter the first benchmark for high-quality wine and typical products made in Italy. In Italy, in addition to more than 15 guides and countless portals dedicated to wine and critics, there is an absolute need to create a reference hat that becomes an important reference at national and international level. To give the highest credibility and impartiality to The WineHutner Award, it is necessary to create a Foundation that is its guarantor. I refer to other awards, such as the Nobel Prize or the Oscar. I'm thinking of a Foundation with members representing all the organizations and all the wine critics, a guarantor of high quality for both the national and international markets”.
With another objective, that of creating, on the model of the Liv-Ex platform, a reference of the secondary market to “French traction” (but with Italy in strong growth, ed.) a sort of “stock exchange only for Italian wines. Each year the best 100 wines with the WineHunter hat could be evaluated - explains Köcher - that within an algorithm also takes into account the evaluations of the major Italian and foreign guides. Italian wine in this way would get more attention and certainly even greater demand”.
In the meantime, we are looking forward to the next appointment in Merano, where, as mentioned, we will celebrate the genius of Leonardo Da Vinci, “a figure who well embodies the motto of the WineHunter “Excellence is an attitude” and who already in the sixteenth century, as an absolute forerunner, dedicated himself to themes such as oenology and the search for excellence in viticulture, his personal passion. The patron dedicates a special space to him - explains a note - in the festival, the Kursaal del Kurhaus, one of the most representative Art Nouveau buildings in the entire Alpine area, which, on 8 November, will host, at the opening, Naturae et Purae - Bio&dynamica, a space dedicated to natural, organic and biodynamic wines, orange and Piwi, while from 9 to 11 November the space is dedicated to The Official Selection, where you can taste all the best labels present and awarded with the WineHunter Awards, the awards of the guide The WineHunter Award (with the “Platinum” that will be brought forward on October 7, in Milan, in the Milan Wine Week, ed). Finally, on November 12, in the Kursaal, the final event of the Merano WineFestival will take place: Catwalk Champagne, a glamorous parade dedicated to the best wine producers in combination with selected gourmet specialties. For those who love gastronomic and culinary products, a visit to the GourmetArena is a must. Once again this year the multi-purpose space of The Circle - People, Lands, Experiences returns, a covered area of 450 square meters that will become a stage for meetings, debates, tastings and musical performances that tell the rich food and wine, cultural, historical and environmental of some of the most beautiful areas of the Italian peninsula. For those who want to deepen their knowledge of wine at the Hotel Terme Merano there are the Charity Wine Masterclasses, vertical tastings whose proceeds are donated as every year to charity. Finally, a space dedicated to spirits and mixology, the Spirits&Mixing Arena, along the Promenade that runs along the River Passer, where enthusiasts and the curious can discover the latest news in the field and taste the latest trends.
