FOOTBALL, KING OF SPORTS AND TAITTINGER CHAMPAGNE, KING OF BUBBLES, COME TOGETHER FOR THE WORLD CUP IN BRAZIL, CROWNING THE HISTORY OF MAISON REIMS, TRADITIONALLY LINKED TO THE WORLD OF FOOTBALL

A week ago, we told the strange and somewhat absurd story of Taittinger, the famous French Champagne chosen as the official bubbles for the World Cup taking place next summer in Brazil. And, we explained how the company in Reims cannot advertise its conquest on French medias because of a sentence the Tribunal de Grande Instance of Paris passed in mid-January that punished the firm for the advertisement published in "Le Figaro" and "Le Monde”, which exalted the combo Champagne and football, pairing the FIFA and Taittinger logos...

In Italy, where consumer groups are a bit more lenient than the Association Nationale de Prévention en Alcoologie et Addictologie, there are no such limits, and Taittinger’s victory can be told, summed up in one bottle (pictured). The family’s history has always been intertwined with great moments of the Football Club of Reims, and has continued to build partnerships with several European clubs. Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger (president of the firm) tells us one of his best memories about the team of Reims in this epic period for the team of Reims, which is the origin of the term "champagne football".
He remembers that the only occasion in which he could exceptionally watch TV was on June 6, 1959; when his father, Jean Taittinger, the newly elected mayor of Reims, officially started the final game of the European Cup of Clubs (now Champions League) between Real Madrid and Reims, live from Stuttgart. Even though Reims lost, the final game left him with the impression of a bubbly football associated to the values of Champagne (celebration, excellence, happiness, humanity), values embodied in this prestigious agreement with FIFA, which will be launched through numerous activities, until the final game in the legendary Maracana Stadium on July 13, 2014.
