IT IS IMPORTANT TO NARRATE THE ORIGINS OF ITALIAN FOOD&WINE, AND OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS FARINETTI WILL BRING BITS OF ITALY TO EATALY IN MAHATTAN, FROM THE MILAN CATHEDRAL TO THE ROYAL ORCHESTA OF TORINO

It is important to narrate Italian wine& food, especially outside the national borders, starting with the United States, a key commercial partner that does not know us well enough yet. So, Oscar Farinetti who is well aware of this situation, in the next few months will bring different aspects of Italian life to enliven Eataly in Manhattan (www.eataly.com), the Italian wine & food temple overseas, with an eye towards Expo 2015.

The initiative starts in October with the Milan Cathedral arriving in New York to celebrate the discovery of America. On October 12th, Columbus Day will greet the Big Apple like every year with a big parade and a day of celebration. And, Eataly in Manhattan will welcome its customers with one of the statues, two spires and even a reproduction of the “Madonnina”, from the Milan Cathedral. And that's not all, because on December 6th New York City will stage its first Sleepless Night, and for the occasion Eataly, starting at midnight, has organized an invitation-only event where the orchestra of the Teatro Regio in Turin will play an Italian-based overture to Rossini. Barilla, Maserati and Lavazza are also sponsoring the event and other sponsors will likely join the event as well. Finally, in February 2015, Eataly New York will bring the values and the beauty of the small Italian communities with the event “We have decided to tell the world about ourselves”, and the collaboration of “The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy”, to explain, by way of conferences, exhibitions, promotions, tastings and entertainment, why it is essential to develop small communities for the rebirth of Italy.

“All this”, explained Farinetti, “will also help talk about Expo 2015. The Eataly pavilion will host 14 restaurants representing the 20 Italian regions. The name will be "The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind”, the line from Bob Dylan’s famous song, to emphasize the exceptional biodiversity, thanks also to the winds, in Italy. The proceeds will be given to the Slow Food project for ten thousand vegetable gardens in Africa".
