Focus - Brunello di Montalcino the Italian DOCG tops the U.S. magazine "Wine Enthusiast"
Brunello di Montalcino is confirmed "king" of Italian wine making by the "Top 100 Cellar Selection" of the U.S. magazine "Wine Enthusiast", which selected the best wines out on the market in 2013 to be aged in cellars. 17 wines out of 100 on the ranking are Italian, led by Brunello on wine enthusiasts’ list of "must haves". This is "a result”, said Patrizio Cencioni of Capanna winery, “that confirms the Montalcino territory as the Prince of Italian wine making. It is priceless satisfaction that fills us with joy. We have worked very hard in the vineyards and in the cellars and this success rewards us for all the efforts we have made in recent years aiming to enhance our territory in the best way possible, through the work of the men that accompany and preserves one of the most picturesque areas in the world”. The 100/100 points are a further confirmation, for Casanova dei Neri, of the very high level the winery has reached. In 2012 it was top on Wine Enthusiast’s "Buying Guide" and the top position of Wine Spectator’s ranking with Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova 2001. "This recognition, added to the extraordinary achievements in recent decades, fills me with satisfaction and confirms”, said Giacomo Neri, owner of Casanova di Neri, “the quality of our vineyards and the high level of work in our cellars that we have continued with great commitment and passion”. “It is a very important recognition that rewards not only our wine and territory, but also the centuries old traditions”, said Claudia Padelletti of the Padelletti winery, “that we have carefully followed to make Brunello one of best loved wines in the world. Our commitments to continually search for uniqueness and quality have repaid the efforts of making Brunello the symbol of the greatness of Italian wine in the world”.
