Lastminute.com crowns Italy The World's Best Wine Country

There’s no France, no Spain, no Napa Valley to stand up to: Italy is the best destination in the world for wine lovers. To crown Italy as The World’s Best Wine Country, the survey of the online portal Lastminute.com, which, as reported by The Drinks Business, comparing 30 wine-producing countries, elected the Belpaese as the best, thanks to the wide range of wine tasting experiences in all the 21 Regions, which are traditionally wine growing. Thus, in the eternal conflict with blows of wine, Italy beat its cousin France, which came second , thanks to the many wineries open to tourists and onlookers, which offer wine experiences always different and original, but also thanks to the more affordable average price of wine, 4.77 euros per bottle, against 5.73 in France (Wine Searcher data). Spain was on the lowest step of the podium, followed by South Africa. And while Australia slips to position no. 15, and the United States only reach position no. 10, Great Britain wins position no. 30, thanks to the success of British sparkling wines.
