MOSCATO D'ASTI, BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO AND CHATEANEUF-DU-PAPE WERE THE TOP 3 MOST SEARCHED WINES AND TERRITORIES ON THE PORTAL WINE-SEARCHER.COM IN 2013. PARKER THE MOST SEARCHED CRITIC AND "FROM SEX TO SANGIOVESE, SAVANNA SAMSON" THE TOP NEWS ITEM.

Moscato d'Asti, Brunello di Montalcino and Chateaneuf-du-Pape are in that order, the three most searched wines and territories in 2013 on the portal www.wine-Searcher.com, the online reference for fans around the world in search of wine prices and ratings. In a concise info graphic, the Piedmont area famous for its sparkling wines (which are all the rage in the U.S.) takes first place on the podium of user searches, followed by the Tuscan Brunello di Montalcino, one of the world's most beloved Italian reds, and then the French Chateaneuf-du-Pape.

Among the most searched facts on the portal, also the most searched “critics”, and the "inventor" of the beloved or hated "100 point system" Robert Parker, was number one. It seems that his authority and reliability, in terms of wine making ratings is still top, even after the majority sale of his creation "The Wine Advocate" to investors in Singapore. The famous magazine "Wine Spectator" follows, then the portal www.cellartraker.com, and names such as Jancis Robinson, the magazine "Wine Enthusiast" and James Suckling. And if the most expensive wine on the market in 2013 was (and is, at least in the update on April 1st) Henri Jayer Richebourg Grand Cru from the Cote de Nuits at a price ranging between US$16.500 and US$27.500 per bottle, the the most "wished for" was Chateau Margaux.
The most read news headlines on Wine-Searcher.com were, in order, "From Sex to Sangiovese, Savanna Samson", an article that describes how the porn star Savanna Samson got into wine production with the La Fiorita Estate, in Montalcino; then "Top 12 Wine Fakes" and “Producer Portrait: The Haut Brion Mission”.

Finally, an interesting ranking, the "Most Viewed Grapes": first place goes to a Bordeaux blend, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. The first Italian grape variety, needless to say, Sangiovese, ranks number 10.
