THE BIONDI SANTI BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RESERVES SAFEGUARDED IN THE GREPPO ESTATE: TWO 1888 VINTAGE RESERVES, FIVE 1891 BOTTLES, THREE 1925, FIVE 1945 AND 258 1955 RESERVE (WINE SPECTATOR RANKED IT THE BEST ITALIAN WINE OF THE 20TH CENTURY)

The Biondi Santi Brunello di Montalcino Reserves are a cult for collectors and enthusiasts. Excellence and historical heritage of one of the most important wines in the world, produced by the "Greppo" Estate, "cradle" of the great Tuscan red, where in the nineteenth century Brunello was "invented" by the “Garibaldino” Ferruccio Biondi Santi. And, his son, Franco Biondi Santi, a personality who gave prestige to the entire Italian wine world, was the guardian until recently.

The reserves stored in the vault of the cellar, which has not been "touched" by the colossal 4 million euros investment of the Bottled Investment Fund, led by Sergio Esposito, as Wine News announced the day before yesterday, bought (in March 2013) 7.000 bottles (1945-1975), one of the largest sales in the history of "blue chip" wines and the largest in the history of Italian fine wines for investment. There are indeed many bottles safeguarded in the cellar available to fans and exclusive tastings that Jacopo Biondi Santi, Franco's son and heir to the family history, will guard with the same care and dedication as his father.
In the vault of the "Greppo" Estate there are 2 bottles of Reserve 1888, 5 Reserve 1891, 3 Reserve 1925 and 5 Reserve 1945 of inestimable value. However, there are also 258 bottles of Reserve 1955, the only Italian wine ranked among the best 12 wines produced in the twentieth century by "Wine Spectator", at 5.700 euros per bottle (price for private buyers). There are also 229 bottles of 1964 (3,200 euros), 204 of 1970 (440 euros), 672 of 1971 (690 euros) and 954 of 1975 (980 euros). And, there are 219 Reserve 1982 (3.200 euros), 4.954 1983 (490 euros), 3.660 of 1985 (570 euros), 2.125 of 1988 (690 euros), 1.002 of 1990 (1.150 euros), of the finest older vintages. Not to mention thousands of bottles of Reserve 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2006 and 2007, that over the years were destined to become more than what they already are - historical cult bottles of Brunello di Montalcino produced by the winery that "invented" it and that first introduced the philosophy and practice of aging wines in the Italian wine culture.
