ENOIC DIPLOMACY

The Via della Seta, the ideal thread that is tinged with “red” and joins Beijing to Rome

In the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Italy the many roles of wine: symbolic, food and economic

The Via della Seta is an ideal thread, which runs from Beijing through Asia and Europe to Rome, dyed red, the color of wine, a symbol through which to tell the Italian visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping, who, in recent days, in Italy, signed 29 institutional and trade agreements that will open up, in the coming years, the doors of China to the made in Italy.
There is talk of a potential turnover of 20 billion euros, in which Bacco aims to play a leading role, both numerically and symbolically: it is no coincidence, we believe, that among the tributes of President Sergio Mattarella, along with a silver basket and a volume of the Quirinale, there were three bottles of wine, of Brunello di Montalcino (to be precise, according to rumors WineNews, of “Luce” by Frescobaldi), one of the excellence that best represent the genius and Italian quality in the world.

A sort of “picklock” to break the power relations, which still see us as distant from the wine power in China, France, and Australia, but on a constant rise: in 2018 it closed at 127 million euros, equal to 29% of all the food, which is worth a total of 440 million euros, closing the budget in negative compared to imports, which instead touched 595 million euros (numbers, however, “influenced”, it should be remembered, from data on animal skins, that very little, to say nothing, have to do with the sector, ed).
Following the thread of the three Roman and institutional days of the President of the People’s Republic of China, two moments have attracted the attention of the media, not only Italians: the dinner at the Quirinale, with a delegation of entrepreneurs and prominent figures of Chinese and Italian society and economy, guests of the President of the Republic, on Friday evening, and the lunch of the next day, with the Chinese delegation welcomed this time at Villa Madama by the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte. Meetings full of meaning, capable of marking a turning point in recent Italian history, which not without some criticism, arrived from the U.S. as from Europe, looks to the East to protect the future of its economy, increasingly export-oriented.
And he does so, inevitably, at the table, theater of peace and exchanges from the dawn of time, sealing every agreement with a toast: at the Quirinale, the protagonists are the bubbles of the Trentodoc of the Lunelli Family (presumably those of the Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore), a white on which nothing has leaked, a Barbaresco and the Marsala by Marco De Bartoli. At Villa Madama, as we wrote yesterday on our Twitter profile, the welcome toast was given to Prosecco di Valdobbiadene Millesimato Ludovica di Aneri, while the dishes were accompanied by the wines of the Friulian company Ronchi di Cialla: Cialla Bianco 2015, Scoppiettino di Cialla 2014 and Verduzzo di Cialla 2015.
