Tignanello wine, one of the jewels of the Antinori family, holds position number 12, and Zonin, one of the most important Italian wine companies, is at number 18 on the "World's Most Admired Wine Brand" 2015 ranking, compiled by the influential magazine "Drinks International" and a panel of 200 professionals in the wine industry worldwide.
At the absolute top there are two Spanish wine giants, Torres and Vega Sicilia, confirming Spain’s economic growth and not only, on the wine world’s chessboard.
Third position goes to the Australian, Penfolds. Five criteria were considered for the ranking: quality of the wine, link with the country or territory of origin, responsiveness to the needs and tastes of their target, market position and appeal to a large segment of the population.
Rounding out the top 10, Villa Maria from New Zealand, at 4, ahead of one of the legends of the wine world at number 5, the French Château d'Yquem. Casillero del Diablo, flagship brand of the giant Chilean Concha y Toro is at number 6, Ridge, Californian brand of the Japanese group Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. at number 7, ahead of two other big names in French wine, Château Margaux and Guigal, at positions 8 and 9, and at number 10, the Chilean Cono Sur that just a few days ago was nominated the official wine of the Tour de France.
