THE OLD TUSCAN CIGAR RETURNS TO ITALIAN HANDS

The most loved Tuscan cigar returns to Italy, in a manner of speaking. The manufacturing plant in Lucca that was under British ownership (British American Tobacco), was recently acquired by Holding S.E.C. (of the Maccaferri della Seci family from Bologna) for 95 million euros. 108 million pieces that include 14 different varieties (which all use Kentucky tobacco for which it will soon receive the DOC seal) are produced each year.

The agreement, which includes the session of the production plants in Lucca and Cava de’ Tirreni (Salerno) and the pre-manufacturing plant in Foiano della Chiana (Arezzo), is still awaiting final approval from the Economic and Finance Ministry and the Authorities for the Guarantee of Competition and the Italian Market.
