WINE & SOLIDARITY – A 6 LITER BOTTLE OF SASSICAIA 2002 WAS SOLD FOR 25,000 EUROS AT A BENEFIT AUCTION… THEN IMMEDIATELY RESOLD FOR 22,000 EUROS. A TOTAL OF 47,000 EUROS COLLECTED

A 6 liter bottle of Sassicaia 2002 got a final bid of 25,000 euros at a recent charity auction that was collecting funds for an initiative promoted by ANAC (the National Horse Raising Association) in order to aid jockey Giancarlo Cossu who remained wheelchair bound after a serious accident.
The author of the record making acquisition was Claudio Corradini, on behalf of Trenno and Snai. But, with grand generosity, Claudio Corradini decided to put the bottle back on the auctioning block where it managed to be sold again for 22,000 euros by Sergio Scarpellini. Thus, the bottle of Sassicaia (which was a special edition with limited production), alone, managed to raise 47,000 euros for ANAC.
Understandably satisfied with this turn of events, the owner of Sassicaia (also a horse riding enthusiast), Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta, happily responded that he was “proud and overwhelmed that one of my wines could serve to help Cossu, who, thanks to this money, will be able to get medical aid and hope for recovery”.
