RUMORS - ALLEGRINI (THE MAJOR LABEL FOR AMARONE FROM VALPOLLICELLA) SET TO TAKE OFF IN MONTALCINO AFTER BUYING 15 HECTARES OF VINEYARDS. PRESIDENT OF WINEBOW, LEONARDO LOCASIO, ALSO INVOLVED

According to recent rumors, Marilisa Allegrini of Allegrini, one of the mythic labels for Amarone from the Valpolicella region, is taking off in Montalcino (the territory that is now considered an absolute reference point in the world of Italian winemaking) where the company has recently acquired 15 acres of vineyards, half of which are Brunello.
And, still according to rumors, the affair also includes the president of Winebow, Leonardo Locascio, one of the largest wine import companies in the United States. This acquisition decidedly moves the "action range" of Allegrini to Tuscany, where, just over a year ago, Fumane's company had already acquired the Poggio a Tesoro estate in Bolgheri.
Allegrini, famous for producing wines like Amarone and "La Poja", began under the impulses of Giovanni Allegrini, who successfully re-launched the quality wines of the Valpolicella area in the beginning of the 1970’s. Today, the responsibility of the company is in the hands of Franco and Marilisa Allegrini (respectively enologist and marketing director), who have successfully sent the company soaring to the peaks of success both nationally and internationally.
