Jarno Trulli, Formula 1 champion and wine producer in Abruzzo, talks about both of his passions. “Time is, though for opposite reasons, the crux of both of my passions”. And launches the message “Drink better but drink less, and never when driving”, in an interview with WineNews. Two passions - race-car driving and winemaking - that may appear completely incompatible, but which Trulli (who now produces red and white wines at the Podere Castorani in Abruzzo, and distributed by Meregalli of Monza), has managed to successfully combine them.
“Wine is a world that has fascinated me, regardless of the fact that I am a race-car driver and drink very little, because tasting just enough and in a moderate manner is very nice”. So, what are the differences and similarities between winemaking and race-care driving? According to Trulli, both are united by passion and the quest for excellence, either in the winery or behind the wheel of car. And time is also of great importance: for the Formula 1 it is vital to shorten it, while in winemaking lengthening it can only improve a product.
