By 2008, the United Kingdom will have made it law that labels on alcoholic beverages must state how many “units” of alcohol are contained in a glass of that specific drink. This is the latest of initiatives by the British government for alcohol abuse prevention. Indicating the units, together with the percent alcohol level, should help consumers to stay within daily recommended limits, which for men are 3-4 units per day, and for women, 2-3.
