BIODYNAMIC FARMING - PRODUCING WITH THE ENERGY WITHIN RATHER THAN WITH ADDED MATERIAL. AN INTERVIEW WITH NICOLAS JOLY, THE ICON OF BIODYNAMIC FARMING, AT WINENEWS.TV

Nicolas Joly, a true icon for biodynamic producers, explains it all to winenews.tv: the current situation in Italy, the difficulties of communication, his past as a banker and, most importantly, what biodynamic agriculture signifies, an agricultural practice that, essentially, exploits the dynamism of life.
”There are countries in the world where attention to this practice is growing rapidly: Brazil, Japan and, definitely Italy,” – explains Joly at www.winenews.tv – “a curious country that manages to raise 100,000 chickens per week for others but claims: ‘not in my house!’”. According to Joly, the reason for this is the “heartfelt” connection between Italians and nature, which makes Italy particular sensitive to practices like biodynamic agriculture.
”The problem” - continues Joly – “is that there is a terribly materialistic concept of agriculture. It is necessary, instead, to learn how to understand the system that produces life and to know how to exploit it”. Even consumers are becoming more critical of the methods of production of the goods they are buying, preferring products that respect the environment and that have less social and environmental costs attached.
