Verona is becoming increasingly the capital of wine events in Italy. This year, apart from Vinitaly (one of the most important wine expos world wide), the city of Romeo and Juliet will also be hosting the “Salone del Novello” (the festival of new wine that has, until now, always been celebrated in Vicenza). Though purists turn their noses up at this young wine, in recent years it has registered a growing popularity, especially with the younger generations.
“With this event” - noted General Director of Veronafiere, Giovanni Mantovani, in an interview with WineNews.tv – we are aiming towards following different objectives; principally those that enrich the calendar of wine fair events so that they cover the entire year, and to increase the public target from the already very large group for Vinitaly, aiming above all towards ‘wine professionals’ as well as the more expert wine enthusiasts”.
The move of the “Salone del Novello” event to Verona is just one of the first steps in the integration strategy between the two expo centers of the Veneto region. It foresees a strengthening of the food and agriculture sector at VeronaFiere and the creation of a national luxury pole instead for Fiera di Vicenza.
