ONLY FIVE TROPHIES FOR ITALY (TALENTI, UMANI RONCHI, ROCCA, VALPANTENA, FALCHINI) AT THE “DECANTER WORLD WINE AWARDS”, THE PRESTIGIOUS INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION FROM THE AUTHORITATIVE MAGAZINE DECANTER.

There were only five Italians awarded in the 2007 edition of the “Decanter World Wine Awards”, one of the most prestigious international recognitions in the wine sector.

The awards are organized by the authoritative British magazine Decanter and, this year, it gave its recognition to Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2001 "Vigna del Paretaio" di Talenti (which took top spot for International Red Italian Varietal Over £10, as well as the Regional Trophy for Tuscany Red Over £10), Rosso Conero "Cùmaro" Riserva Doc Marche 2004, Umani Ronchi, one of the best known Italian red labels (Italy Red Over £10), Barbaresco "Rabaja" Docg 2004 di Bruno Rocca, Amarone della Valpolicella Pagus Bisano Doc 2003 made by the Cantina Valpantena, and Vinsanto del Chianti Doc 2001 Podere Casale Primo by Riccardo Falchini.

The competition was presided over by Steven Spurrier who is one of the most important journalists of the “wine & food” sector. Spurrier tends to not only recognize the quality of a wine, but also the importance of the diversity between different areas and the connection to the territory where a wine is made.
The 2007 edition also highlighted the growing quality of “New World” wines, which received, in fact, several awards (from New Zealand to South Africa, the United States and South America).
