An armistice between Italy and France: for once, the cousins divided by the Alps have been united by a charity event. This year, earnings from the fourth edition of the fine wine auction organized by Gelasio Gaetani Lovatelli d’Aragona will be donated to the “I Guardiani del Faro” non profit foundation created by Susanna Agnelli.

Divided into 50 lots, the most precious bottles of Brunello di Montalcino, magnums of Chateau Margaux, magnums of Sassicaia, Chateau Lafite, Lupicaia, Sagrantino di Montefalco Caprai, Guado al Tasso di Antinori, Nobile di Montepulciano, Pinot Nero from the Alto Adige, Pollenza (owned by Brachetti Peretti), Castello di Brolio, Tenuta di Trinoro, Planeta, Castello di Fonterutoli, Frescobaldi, Tenuta dell’Ornellaia and many other famous names will all be available for bidding.

The novelty of the 2007 edition is that many lots have been unified in order to give bidders the chance to buy a variety of high quality wins with just one bid. There are lots mixed with Biondi Santi - Chateau Lafite, bottles donated by Franco Biondi Santi and the Baroness Beatrice de Rothschild, Tasca d’Almerita - Tenuta di Argiano, bottles donated by Count Lucio Tasca d’Almerita and the Countess Noemi Marone Cinzano, Tenute Nardi - Chateau Margaux, donations by Emilia Nardi and Corinne Montzelopoulos, as well as Antinori - Masciarelli, donations by Marchese Piero Antinori and Gianni Masciarelli, Tenuta San Guido - Il Pollenza, Marchese Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta and Count Aldo Brachetti Peretti, Castello del Terriccio - Tenuta San Leonardo, and donations by Gian Annibale Rossi di Medelana and the Marchese Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga, to name just a few.

And there is a surprise for the grand finale: a lucky participant will be randomly chosen to take home a new Fiat Cinquecento.
The “I Guardiani del faro” foundation was created by Susanna Agnelli as a “Lighthouse” (faro) for the city and its youth. The foundation is dedicated to offering emarginated youth the opportunity of discovering their own vocations.
Created in 1997, it is an international orientation, training, and work center for youth, both Italian and foreign, from difficult socio-economic and political situations. The cooking, pastry, pizza, chocolate, ice cream and bread making courses, as well as restaurant service, tailoring, carpentry, hairdressing, plumbing, and gardening courses are all free for the young participants. It is financed by private entities that donate their social budget to the Foundation every year.
